The WNY Quarterback Academy was founded in 2008, establishing a one of a kind program that focuses on developing WNY quarterbacks for next level achievement. This idea was designed around my collegiate and professional football experiences, providing the techniques, film study, high level structure, and guidance to all student athletes.
I too was a quarterback in WNY, dreaming of earning a college degree using football as a vehicle. My road has been the one less traveled, filled with enriching failures and incredible successes. It has been this journey that has ignited my passion to guide our WNY quarterbacks.
The WNY Quarterback Academy is for anyone and everyone who wants to be more than they dreamed. It is a non-competitive, nurturing environment for all ages where players from across WNY come together for one purpose...to challenge themselves to be the very best they can be.
WHY NOT YOU?
Jim's diverse background as a Naval Officer, player, coach, administrator and color analyst have uniquely prepared him to teach football from every perspective. Jim was Co-Captain of the Naval Academy Football Team, Cooke Award Recipient and All Time Navy Leading Passer. He graduated in 1995 and served as a Naval Officer on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Jim pursued professional football and spent time in the NFL, NFL Europe and the Arena Football League. Jim played for 4 seasons in the AFL earning both All Rookie Team and All Pro Honors leading the Dallas Desperados into the playoffs with 97 Touchdowns. Jim signed with the Georgia Force in his final season as a player in 2005. Following retirement Jim was hired as the Offensive Coordinator for the Philadelphia Soul, and then returned to the Georgia Force as General Manager. He has played for the Panthers, Colts, NY Jets and been allocated to the Barcelona Dragons and Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. During his career he has competed with the best; including Peyton Manning, Vinny Testaverde, Chad Pennington and been shaped by some of the best minds in the game including Bill Polian, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Jack Bicknell, Dan Henning, Joe Avezzano, Charlie Weis, Peter Vaas, Al Luginbill and Tony Dungy to name a few.
Jim and his family returned home to Buffalo, NY in 2008 where he created his visions of the WNY Quarterback Academy. During that time he became the Football Color Analyst for the UB Bulls spending eight years in the booth with veteran announcer, Paul Peck. He has also worked as a coach for Football University and currently operates the WNYQBA’s year round training programs while consulting with Canisius and Orchard Park High Schools as their QB Performance Coach.
Legendary WNY Coach John Scibetta brings 31 years of quarterback and offensive line experience to the Quarterback Academy. He has been instrumental in the development of seven Division 1 quarterbacks from St Francis High School during his coaching career and has mentored hundreds of young men over three decades of coaching. He currently consults with Carolina Panthers tight end Chris Manhertz as well as the Culpeper Blue Devils, in Culpeper, Virginia. John's knowledge of pass protections, running game and offensive line techniques make him uniquely valuable in the QB film room.
John is a long time student and friend of Jim McNally , arguably one of the finest offensive line coaches and teachers of this generation.
John is an offensive innovator. He was developing RPO strategies in the early 2000s before there was such a concept. The RPO in Buffalo, NY was officially born under his tutelage.
John is one of the most respected football coaches in all of WNY. He has been offered multiple opportunities to coach across the area, as well as in the collegiate ranks. He shares in, and is committed to the Academy vision of developing and mentoring young quarterbacks to reach their full potential. He brings incredible integrity and passion for helping others. We are very fortunate to have his mentorship in our WNYQBA programs!
